Listen to the Universe

Two leaders of the SYSTEM sounds project stand next to the Sonic Orbiter, an arcade-style game in which participants use a joystick to control a virtual path over the surface of the Moon. A note is played when the path passes over a crater, with the pitch determined by the crater's size, allowing the participant to create music with the Moon's features. The Sonic Orbiter was just one branch of the wider SYSTEM sounds sci-art outreach project, which provided exhibits, public talks and online videos throughout 2019, converting the rhythm and harmony of the cosmos into sound and music.
