During its 95th Meeting, held in Padova on 15–17 April 2015, the IAU Executive Committee approved the Symposia for the year 2016. Considering that in 2015, year of the XXIX General Assembly (GA) in Honolulu, only one Symposium is taking place outside the GA instead of the usual three, the Executive Committee decided to increase the number of 2016 Symposia from 9 to 10.

The list of approved Symposia is as follows:

• IAUS 323 Planetary Nebulae: Multi-wavelength Probes of Stellar and Galactic Evolution

• IAUS 325 Astroinformatics (AstroInfo16)
• IAUS 326 Research in Astronomy Education:  Far Reaching Impacts and Future Directions
• IAUS 327 Fine Structure and Dynamics of the Solar Atmosphere
• IAUS 328 Living Around Active Stars
• IAUS 329 The Lives and Death-throes of Massive Stars
• IAUS 330 Astrometry and Astrophysics in the Gaia Sky
