Rationale

We aim to organize a meeting connecting protoplanetary disk observers and modelers with planet formation theorists and exoplanet experts. Whereas these individual disciplines have rapidly evolved over the past decade, the interaction between the different communities has been limited and therefore the knowledge of the development in other fields is often lacking behind. A better understanding of the latest insights in these rapidly evolving fields will highly benefit our understanding of planet formation in protoplanetary disks and the observable outcomes of planet formation in terms of substructures in protoplanetary disks and populations of exoplanets. At our proposed meeting we will pro-actively connect the disciplines by mixing talks and discussions on theory and observations throughout the schedule, rather than grouping them on separate days, to maximize interactive discussion and collaboration between the fields.
