In 2019, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) celebrated its 100th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, the IAU organised a year-long celebration called IAU100 to share the past century of discoveries in astronomy with people across the world. With the central theme Under One Sky, IAU100 placed a particular emphasis on supporting and improving the use of astronomy as a tool for education, development and diplomacy. The IAU100 initiative comprised more than 5000 activities in 143 countries, reaching millions of people worldwide.
To commemorate the successes of IAU100, the CAPjournal is seeking contributions from individuals and groups around the world who have conducted outreach projects celebrating IAU100 and the astronomical achievements of the past century. Articles are particularly encouraged from relevant projects funded by IAU100, as well as IAU100 recommended projects.
Abstracts for potential articles should be a maximum of 1000 characters in length. The abstract and submission should describe the problem tackled (i.e. the research focus) or the need for the work implemented, the methods used to solve the issue (i.e. the implementation process), the findings (i.e. the results), and the main conclusions from the study or intervention. Abstract submission closes on 15 April and the authors of the selected abstracts will be informed in early May. Guidelines will be provided to the successful authors for the development of their abstracts into full articles. The final articles should be around 1500 words and will be revised and approved by the CAPjournal Editorial Board.
