Obituary:

Dr. Ivanchuk Viktor Ignatievych was born on May 16, 1930 in the village of Ksaverivka, Chernyakhiv district, Zhytomyr region, Ukrainian SSR. In 1954, he graduated from the Faculty of Physics of Kyiv State University named after T. G. Shevchenko and in the same year began working at the Department of Astronomy of this University at the department of Solar physics. In 1965, he defended his candidate's thesis "Structural Formations and Magnetic Fields of the Solar Corona". The main research were related to the physics of solar corona, coronal mass ejections events, magnetic field in the upper solar chromosphere and inner corona. He participated in the scientific research for the CORONAS-I and CORONAS-F space missions (launched in 2001 and 1994, respectively) as well as in many expeditions for solar eclipse observations, including expeditions of Kyiv University (Atar, Mauritania) and the Paris Astrophysical Institute (Moussoro, Chad) during the total solar eclipse in Africa in 1973. Since the beginning of 2000th years, Dr. Viktor Ivanchuk was retired; died on May 18, 2022.
